AppContinuum has the optional ability to deploy an application system, including any needed database updates, to one or more environments. This works by letting you define where an application server and database server reside, where the assets go, and how to properly deploy those assets to the application server.
This is particularly useful in the software development process by using this to automatically deploy to a Q/A type environment. This environment represents the current raw version of the system, in a state verified by test automation. The next common step is to have one or more staging environments for which a deployment has to be manually triggered, that are intended for more specific testing by human beings.
The end result is one or more environments in which the details of deployment are handled by a computer instead of a human. The result is a much more reliable method of system deployment, especially when dealing when database versioning.
